The 2018 High School Art Song Competition



We still have some time slots available for the competition.  To help reach more students, Denver Art Song Project is happy to open the competition to Colorado High School students.  Here are the details:

  • Seniors please designate your year on the online application form.
  • The same musical requirements are required as noted below.
  • We have added a $100 Cash Prize specifically for High School Seniors.
    • Seniors are NOT eligible for the grand prize scholarship. Seniors are eligible for all other awards.
  • We are extending the deadline for the competition for ALL APPLICANTS to January 12, 2018.  The application form must be submitted by Midnight on Friday, January 12, 2018 and deposit checks must be postmarked by Friday, January 12, 2018.  The fee will be fully refunded to students at the time they participate in the competition.

Ithaca College and Denver Art Song Project, proudly announce the 2018 High School Art Song Competition.  The competition and concerts take place at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Littleton, Colorado.  (6673 W Chatfield Ave. Littleton, CO 80128)

Competition Dates

Friday, January 19, 2018,  6-9 p.m.

Saturday, January 20, 2018, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Winners Concert

Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 4 p.m.

Our first and second place winners, Senior Exceptional Singer and honorable mentions perform in a concert setting along with Denver Art Song Project and our distinguished judges.

Winners Master Class

Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 3-5 p.m.

Our winners and honorable mentions will participate in an art song master class featuring our panel of judges.  Singers will perform one song and receive feedback and coaching in front of a live audience.

First Place

The Flora Brown Promise Award
This is a contingent award of no less than $10,000. The student winner will receive the award upon completing a successful audition for the Ithaca College School of Music, and upon acceptance to Ithaca College as a voice major. The amount will then be applied to defray costs of tuition to attend Ithaca College, School of Music.

$200 and participation in the 2018 High School Art Song Concert and Master Class

Second Place

$100 and participation in the 2018 High School Art Song Concert and Master Class

The Exceptional Art Song Singer Award

For high school seniors only.  $100 and participation in the 2018 High School Art Song Concert and Master Class
